Sandalwood (Santalum album), or White Sandalwood, is a small tropical tree and the best known source of sandalwood. Its use is favored throughout sacred places in India as it promotes meditation with its sweet and captivating scent. Cultivated and commercialized in recent years, it is often found in the form of essential oil, appreciated for its fragrant and medicinal qualities. Its sweet, woody and slightly spicy fragrance is known to relieve anxiety.

PosologyTopical (adults): Mix 1 to 5 drops in 1/2 teaspoon (2.5ml) of vegetable oil; apply locally 3 times a day. Inhalation: Add 4 to 12 drops in a bowl of steaming hot water or a diffuser. Inhale slowly and deeply for 5-10 minutes.

May cause allergic reaction (e.g. skin rashes, irritation, dermatitis, irritation of the respiratory tract); in which case, discontinue use and consult a health care practitioner. If nausea, dizziness, headache or allergic reactions occur, discontinue use. Not for use on inflamed, broken, irritated or sensitive skin or if suffering from dermatitis. Avoid exposing treated area to sunlight. Consult a health care practitioner if symptoms worsen or persist.
